NAPHL CHAMPS!

The Miners 16UAAA team wins gold at the NAPHL Championships...

The Miners 16UAAA team won the NAPHL Championships this past weekend in impressive fashion.  After finishing the NAPHL regular season as the #1 seed heading into the playoffs, the Miners had to string together another strong weekend in order to take Gold at the NAPHL Championships in San Jose.

The Miners went 2-1 in Championship pool play with wins over Motor City (6-1) and Detroit (5-1), before falling to Lansing (5-3) in game 3. 

In the Semifinals, the Miners defeated the Florida Panthers Alliance 4-3 in a shootout after coming back from a 2 goal deficit to tie the game in regulation.

The Miners faced the Carolina Hurricanes in the Championship game who defeated Lansing in the other semifinal 3-2.  Halfway through the game, the score was tied 1-1.  Then, the Miners erupted for 4 unanswered goals en route to clinching
the NAPHL Championship 5-1.

Overall, regular season and playoffs combined, the Miners finished the NAPHL season with a 21-3-1 record.
